KyADAPT provides monthly activities, open to all clients. Often, Deaf-plus adults are very isolated and lonely. This can very negatively affect their behavior and self-esteem. It is important that they can get out, meet other people and have fun! While they are having fun, they are also developing social skills and language skills.
We have traveled to see the zoo, aquarium, Christmas lights, and much more. Locally, we’ve visited museums, celebrated birthdays, gone bowling, watched movies and made crafts.
KyADAPT wants our clients to understand that life is not a free-ride. We usually asked them to pay a small portion of the costs of Group Activities. This helps develop a sense of ownership to the activities.
In addition to our own activities, KyADAPT clients often join other local groups’ activities.
